Ride-A-Bike Bicycle Shop was founded by Chaffin Rhyne back in 1981. The original store was located in the Court Square of Lincolnton, NC. Our current owner, Brantley Smith, worked at RAB as a teen in the 1990s, and after a career in the automotive industry, purchased the business in 2011. In 2015 we moved from our original location to our present storefront in historic downtown Gastonia NC. Leaving our home in Lincolnton was not an easy decision, but we had an opportunity we couldn’t ignore. In 2025 we celebrated a successful decade in Gaston County as a keystone business in the downtown district.
Ride-A-Bike has been serving cyclists and promoting cycling in North Carolina for over 40 years now, and we are proud to be one of the oldest bicycle shops in the entire state! Ride-A-Bike supports all types of cyclists by providing quality service and products. We stock new bicycles from Marin, Jamis, Dahon, Aventon, and Batch. Other niche brands are available through special order. Ride-A-Bike has a full-service repair department with highly experienced and certified mechanics. We will help you keep your bicycles in peak condition at competitive rates.
As part of our growth and connection to community, we also host a variety of activities at our shop. We lead free weekly group rides every Tuesday during Daylight Savings season, as well as monthly mountain and gravel rides. We host multiple weekly yoga classes with certified instructors in our upstairs loft. We even have a free monthly craft night. Our events calendar is released each month with details for all our events.
